"Operational in 15 states. Over 30,000 boys and girls already trained"
This is the flagship programme of IGCSM. Where young girls and boys are offered training in media, banking, retail, commerce, etc, through its skill development centres. Through its different projects, operational in 15 states, IGCSM has already trained over 30,000 boys and girls.
Following are the projects that are operational in various states under this initiative
Development centres – These are centres that are operated through training partners, and focus on providing IT software and hardware courses. These courses are designed and formulated basis recent market-requirements thus providing benefeciaries the most updated skill-sets seeked in the job market. There are more than 500 such training partners operational across 15 states. And more than 25,000 boys and girls have been trained in IT software and hardware courses through these development centres.
Skill centres in Jharkhand – These centres are established under the National Urban Livelihoods Mission. Earlier known as the Swarnajayanti Shahri Rozgar Yojana scheme, this project is supported by the Jharkhand Government, to train and provide job placements to youths living in slum areas of various cities and towns in the state of Jharkhand. The beneficiaries are trained mainly in four sectors – media and entertainment, construction, travel and tourism & retail. This project, started during 2013-14, is in an elementary stage. However, it has already benefitted 920 young boys and girls, within a short time.
National Skill Development Council (NSDC) Star scheme – This project is supported by NSDC. Two centres, offering specialized training in organized retail, were established, benfitting 90 youths.
Vocational Training Provider – Under this project, IGCSM funstions as a lead vocational training provider in Delhi NCR. This project is supported by Ministry of Labour and Employment of the Delhi Government. IGCSM has set up vocational training centres, that offer market oriented training in ICT, soft skills, banking & business and commerce, as per the govenrment programmes. 7130 students have benefitted from this project and have been certified by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT).
